(KZN.RU, September 4, Mikhail Chentsov). Guzel Ananieva, the general director of the Department of Social Catering and Food, announced the incorporation of the department during the Business Monday today in the City Executive Committee. After the corporization, the enterprise was wholly owned by the municipality.
Ilsur Metshin noted the successful work experience of the Department of Food and Social Catering of Kazan, which serves not only the capital of Tatarstan but 9 districts of the republic, as well as Zelenodolsk and Nizhnekamsk. “We started with the problem of how to feed our children deliciously and qualitatively. Today, 92.4% of students eat in Kazan schools, and this is not the limit”, marked the head of the capital.
The catering coverage of Kazan school children exceeded the all-Russian index, which is 50%, almost twice as much as in the last academic year.
The corporatization allowed the company to work under Federal Law №223 and simplify a number of procedures for interaction with suppliers.
“The 44th law significantly restricted the department in operational activities. This is the most important tool and when it comes to unscrupulous suppliers and the quality of the supplied products. Therefore, there is also an opportunity to improve our work and to cut off these unscrupulous suppliers”, said Ilsur Metshin.
The Mayor noted that corporatization opens new opportunities for the department to attract investments and expand its activities. In addition, corporatization will help solve the long-standing problem of low salaries of cooks and kitchen workers and attract professional staff to canteens and the department of catering. And also, it will help to solve the problem of modernization and re-equipment of school canteens and food units at the expense of the organization's own resources.
I. Metshin especially marked that children’s catering remains a priority for the company, despite the success of the department in the field of commerce. “New directions allow us to earn. But high-quality and affordable children’s catering is still the most important. We looked at the prices and monitor other cities. Statistics by September 1 showed that our food is of the highest quality and the most affordable”, said the Mayor.
According to G. Ananieva, at present, the cost of a two-time meal for junior school children in Kazan is 80 rubles a day (1-4 grades), a one-time meal for high school students is 58 rubles. “This is the lowest price level among the cities with a million population”, she said.
She also noted that the organization is in constant interaction with both students and their parents. Such joint work allows monitoring the quality of food. A special mobile application “Eat and satisfied”, launched in the last academic year? contributes to this in many ways. About 885 people in 20 schools are using it today. In the new academic year, it is planned to maximize the number of users. All Kazan schoolchildren can download it.
In addition, the department's specialists use the premises of school restaurants for explanatory work during meetings with parents' committees, conduct tastings of school menu dishes, conduct master classes on cooking culinary novelties, talk about the importance of catering to a healthy lifestyle.
“The application you showed the President and me on the Day of Knowledge is a very modern feedback tool. It is necessary to explain to children through the application what is useful for them, why it is important to eat proper food, and how it will affect their health in the future”, said I. Metshin.
In conclusion, the Mayor noted that everything that concerns children is the most important direction of the work of the Executive Committee and the city’s leadership. “Two schools opened their doors on the Day of Knowledge, three more are being built. 134 schools are repaired but the health of children in this work is the most important. From, our children’s health depends on what Guzel Ananieva reported of today. We have given and will continue to give very close attention to this”, summed up the Mayor of Kazan.
