(KZN.RU,
July 31, Zilya Gayfi). About 10 thousand people visited the festival “Window to
Paris”, which was held for the first time in the Lyadsloy Garden in Kazan on
July 28-29. Daria Sannikova, the director of the Tourism Promotion Committee of
the Executive Committee, reported this today on the Business Monday at the City
Hall.
This year,
the festival of fashion, design, and street performance “Window to Paris” was a
continuation of the festival of street performance “Cultural Sdvig”, which has
taken the public spaces of the city over the past years. “The festival “Window
to Paris” is a project in the format of public art, which is a symbiosis of
popular arts that a person faces every day: fashion, photography, architecture.
In the language of these arts, we talked about Kazan as an active center for
the development of design; both the urban environment and various spheres in
general”, noted Daria Sannikova.
The
festival pleased the guests and residents of the city with the performance “The
Great Road” from the Kazan Chamber Theater “Sdvig”, the show of collections
from the fashion house “Katya Borisova”, the evening program with the
participation of the jazz band “Ba Cissoko”, invited from France, and the best
bands of Kazan. Mimes, clowns and “living” statues entertained the audience for
two days. Tthe Boratynsky Museum, the Lenin Museum, and the N. Feshin Art
School, which are located next to the Lyadskoy Garden, joined the festival.
They exhibited fragments of their expositions in the open air. Daria Sannikova
also noted that business representatives actively supported the city in holding
the festival, for example, giving the opportunity to the citizens to attend
free thematic master classes.
One of the
central themes of the festival was the creative heritage of Alexander
Rodchenko, the famous Soviet and Russian photographer. He lived and worked in
Kazan and he is one of the founders of constructivism, the founder of design
and advertising in the USSR. The main attraction of the Lyadskoy Garden these
days was the 7-meter Eiffel Tower, made of wood special for the event, which
helped to really feel the atmosphere of Paris.
Ilsur
Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, noted that the format of street festivals in Kazan
is relatively new but it has already taken hold. “It's difficult to imagine a
summer full-fledged tourist program without such festivals. Something is
constantly happening. In the words of youth slang, there is a heavy action in
the city. This is good because these are not just events but they are
educational. For example, the “Window to Paris” introduced us to the works of
A. Rodchenko, the pioneer of Soviet photography. This is not new for us. But
certainly, there are those who first heard about him and saw his work”, said
the head of the Tatarstan’s capital.
