I. Metshin: “Construction of the SPS “Zarechnaya” will not affect the bills of residents”

(KZN.RU, June 23, Mikhail Chentsov). The construction of the sewage pumping station “Zarechnaya”, one of the most important infrastructures of the city, continues in Kazan. Ilsur Metshin, the head of the Tatarstan’s capital, held a regular visiting meeting at the site of the SPS in the Kirovsky district of the city. According to the Mayor, the builders are clearly fulfilling the tasks assigned to them so there is every reason to believe that the first stage of the facility will be completed by the end of 2017.

The construction of a new sewage pumping station near the River Technical School was started in October last year. The first stage of the project includes the construction of the SPS itself with the installation of process equipment, leading self-flowing collectors, pumped self-flowing collectors to the switching chamber, transformer substation, and power supply networks. At the second stage of the work, a new pressure collector with a diameter of 1400 mm will be built, which can pump up to 20000 cubic meters of drains per hour from the “Zarechnaya” to the treatment plant. The current pumped collector does not cope with the load.

Now, a tunnel-boring complex works on the construction site, laying pipelines underground, which will later be connected to existing sewerage networks.

Azat Nigmatzyanov, the first deputy head of the Executive Committee, noted that the SPS “Verkhnyaya”, operating since 1973, is no longer able to pump the required volumes of sewage. Therefore, there is an unpleasant smell, from which the residents of nearby houses suffer. “Today, according to “Vodokanal”, up to 14 thousand cubic meters of sewage passes here at peak times so an unpleasant smell has appeared. When the new station is launched, this problem will be solved”, said A. Nigmatzyanov.

I. Metshin marked that advanced technologies are used in construction, as well as the best experience of Russian pumping stations, which are already operating. “Everything meets the highest ecological requirements. There are no smells that were before. It is also important that the construction of the SPS will not affect the bills payment of our residents, therefore, the citizens can make their mind easy”, said the mayor.

The head of the RT also added that the new sewage pumping station is one of the most important infrastructure facilities in Kazan, which covers half of the city. “Today we can safely praise the builders. They gained a good pace. There is everything to ensure that this object will be operating at the end of the year. The city expects serious improvements in sewerage, which will allow building 6.5 million square meters of housing in Zarechye, and look confidently into the future”, concluded I. Metshin.

Iskander Giniyatullin, the deputy head of the Executive Committee and the chairman of the Housing Committee, Sergey Mironov, the head of the Kirovsky and Moskovsky districts’ administration, and others took part in the meeting.
