I. Metshin about the “WorldSkills-2019”: “Kazan children should take part in the world championship of professional skills”

(KZN.RU, February 6, Alsu Safina). The third regional championship “Young professionals” (WorldSkills Russia) was held in Kazan from 1 to 3 February. 78 competencies of the contest “WorldSkills” and 19 competencies of “JuniorSkills” were presented in the championship. Artur Valiakhmetov, the chairman of the Economic Development Committee of the Kazan Executive Committee, reported on the event today at the Business Monday. He noted that the students of Kazan colleges have won all the competences assigned to the Executive Committee: “Floristics”, “Catering service”, “Cooking”, “Confectionery” and “Hairdressing”. Overall, 595 students and 527 experts of the “WorldSkills” and 220 participants and 120 experts of the “JuniorSkills” took part in the championship. Results of the competition identified those, who will present Tatarstan in the semifinals and finals of the national championship.

Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, set the task: to ensure that Kazan students were to present in the national team in the World championship of professional skills “Worldskills” in 2019. “We can seriously grow for the remained of the period before the championship of working professions in 2019. There are a lot of competences, and we should compete everywhere we can. We must take it seriously”, said Ilsur Metshin.

The chairman of the Committee for Economic Development also spoke about the fact that Kazan Executive Committee in conjunction with the State Committee on Tourism of the RT organized the development of competitive platforms on competences “Floristics”, “Catering service”, “Cooking”, “Confectionery” and “Hairdressing” on the basis of the “Kazan fair” within the open regional championship. Also, the work was carried out to provide them with the equipment and supplies”.

The chairman of the Committee for Economic Development thanked businessmen, who took part in this, and invited other companies to follow their example. He reminded that the championship of working professions is interesting in terms of popularization of these specialties and in identifying human resource potential of the territory. In addition, these events motivate children to improve their skills, knowledge and abilities. “The amount of sponsorship for the organization of platforms in five competences was about 16 million 300 thousand rubles”, also said the speaker.
