I. Metshin took part in the meeting of the Organizing Committee for the Confederations Cup 2017

(KZN.RU, January 30). Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of Tatarstan, today held this year's first meeting of the republican Organizing Committee “Russia-2018” to prepare for the matches of the Confederations Cup 2017 in Kazan. The meeting was held at the Government House. Ildar Khalikov, the Prime Minister of Tatarstan, Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, and others took part in it.

According to Rustam Minnikhanov, the city comes to the finish line in the preparation for matches of the Confederations Cup 2017. He reminded that the decree on changes in the composition of the republican organizing committee and the position of its activities was signed last week.

A comprehensive action plan of the Republican Organizing Committee for the upcoming matches in Kazan was considered during the meeting. Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized that the preparation of sports facilities is in accordance with the regional program. The work on a number of projects has already been completed. The work on the construction of temporary infrastructure began at the stadium “Kazan Arena”.

“At this stage, we need to pay special attention to the degree of readiness of all republican and municipal services, involved in the preparation and holding matches of the Confederations Cup in Kazan”, said Rustam Minnikhanov. “Today we need to have an idea of how ready the city is for an influx of tourists, how the management of the competition will be carried out. The whole preparation process is carried out in close cooperation and with the support of the Ministry of Sports of Russia and the organizing committee “Russia-2018”.

Vladimir Leonov, the Minister of Youth Affair and Sport of the RT, Azat Kadyrov, the general director of the ANO “The management of sports and social projects”, and others made presentations at the meeting.

Vladimir Leonov said that today exactly 500 days left before the start of the FIFA World Cup-2018 matches and 137 days left before the start of the Confederations Cup in 2017. Vladimir Leonov also noted that a meeting on the preparations for the Confederations Cup matches and test matches was held recently at the Ministry of Sports of Russia.

He also reminded that the 4 matches, including the semi-finals, will be played in Kazan within the framework of the Confederations Cup 2017. According to Vladimir Leonov, the high interest of fans to these matches and the city is marked even today. “We expect a large influx of fans”, he said.
