The anniversary Kazan ski marathon will gather 670 athletes from Russia and other countries

(KZN.RU, January 30, Mikhail Chentsov). The anniversary Kazan ski marathon with the participation of 670 athletes from Russia and the CIS countries will be held on February 4. The Russian Paralympic team has confirmed its participation in the marathon at a distance of 5 km. Representatives of Tatarstan, Moscow, Moscow region, Perm, Tolyatti, Ufa, as well as cross-country skiers from Kazakhstan and the Czech Republic are among the competitors. Svetlana Vostrikova, the chairman of the Committee of Physical Culture and Sports of the Kazan Executive Committee, reported at today's Business Monday.

She reminded that the Kazan Ski Marathon celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2017, and it gained international status for the first time by entering into a series of the largest Russia ski marathon “Russialoppet”. This year's competition will be held on the updated ski lodge “Locomotiv”, where the track was extended and rolling by snow grooming was carried out. “Now it is the best ski slopes in the town, where there are circles with difficult terrain for professionals, and circles without inclines for the amateurs”, said the speaker.

Among the 670 athletes, registered for the marathon distance, 500 of them selected 50 km, 100 people - half-marathon distance of 25 km, and 70 more skiers will run 5 km. All athletes will overcome the distance freestyle. “Each participant will receive at the start of the marathon not only T-shirts with a nominal number, but also souvenirs. At the finish, each participant is guaranteed a medal regardless of the place. The winners will be awarded a separate gift”, said S. Vostrikova. The total prize fund of the competition is 1 million rubles and it will be distributed among the men who took place from 1 to 9, and among women - from 1 to 6 places. Start of the races is at 10:00.

Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, wished all the participants of the marathon to achieve good results. “In advance I want to wish good luck to all the participants of the marathon. I hope to see municipality workers on the track as well, including those managers present in the hall today. In a healthy body - healthy mind, colleagues”, concluded the Mayor of Kazan.
