The square named after the famous philanthropist Asgat Galimzyanov is open to visitors

(KZN.RU November 5). Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of Tatarstan, Mintimer Shaimiev, the State Counselor of Tatarstan, visited today the new square named after the famous philanthropist Asgat Galimzyanov, located near the Kazan Kremlin walls. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, Leila Fazleeva, the assistant of the President, Tatiana Larionova, the deputy chairman of the State Council of the RT, and others also participated in the inspection.

Regina Suyundukova, the author of the project, expert of the studio of architecture and design “Plan”, was giving explanations during the inspection. The monument of philanthropist was unveiled in 2008 at the Millennium Square by the initiative of Mintimer Shaimiev, Tatarstan's first President, and the central figure of the monument became Asgat Galimzyanov, the known philanthropist of Tatarstan (03/02/1936-01/03/2016). The sculptor Asiya Minullina was the author of the project.

The decision of landscaping the titled square around the monument was made by the city of Kazan leadership in 2016. Family of Mintimer Shaimiev took care of all the financial costs, reports the press-service of the President of the RT.

Architect Regina Suyundukova reported that the main work was carried out between July and October this year. New engineering services were settled, concrete and granite paving stones laid in the preparation of the base of the future park. The main elements of the park are made of granite, benches are made of larch. More than 140 modern vandal-proof fixtures were installed throughout the territory of the pedestrian area; about 12 thousand green plantings were put. Video surveillance system will help monitor compliance with the order.

Memorial plate of bronze with the inscription “Immortality of yours – in matters of good...  To the best one of us – Asgat Galimzyanov. Mintimer Shaimiev” occupies a special place in the park.

All major work completed for today, the park is open to visitors.

Rustam Minnikhanov praised the concept of park renewal, as well as the implementation of the project in whole. He noted that the new park is located in the immediate vicinity of the Kazan Kremlin - the main sight of the capital. I am sure that the residents and guests of the capital will fancy the square, said the President of Tatarstan.
