Ilsur Metshin “Businessmen have asked us about it, it is necessary to introduce”

The introduction of standard signage, made using an electronic calculator, facilitate the coordination of procedures for the management of architecture and urban planning of the city and for entrepreneurs. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, commented on this innovation today at the Business Monday in the Executive Committee of the city.

“It is important that the decision standard signage is made. We had this idea at a meeting with businessmen, when they came to us with their problems”, said Ilsur Metshin. “A businessman rarely has time to deal with all these issues. They asked us about it. It is necessary to implement it”.

“When the city authorities shows the standard, where all is pre-painted on 90 per cent of, it is easier to coordinate. At the same time, the introduction of standard signage does not preclude the possibility for a businessman to develop his own style”, added the Mayor.

Zhanna Belitskaya, the deputy head of the Department Architecture and Urban Planning, told that at least 60 design such options in Russian, Tatar, English and symbols to him are offered. Several types of font, methods of illumination, several colors and combinations are offered for a choice of the entrepreneur. “Design solutions of typical signage for the historical part of the city are provided”, she said.

According to Zh. Belitskaya, the introduction of standard signage is necessary, first of all, to support small and medium-sized businesses, and this is another measure to reduce administrative barriers. “Sometimes it is easier for entrepreneurs to get a ready professional solution. The choice will always be for the entrepreneur: to use a model or an individual sign”, she said.

A special working group, composed of representatives of various spheres of business, was engaged in the development of standard signage for six months. According to Zhanna Belitskaya, a typical signage includes a mandatory element - the general name of the type of activity (for example, a shop, a bakery, a pharmacy, etc.), as well as the customer's request - a logo and a cantilever design. It is placed directly over the front group.

The speaker explained that it will be possible to make their own passport with an electronic calculator, possessing basic computer skills. The cost of production of a passport time to align with the introduction of standard signage will be reduced; quality and safety of structures will increase for proposed profiles provide rigidity.

Currently, the Department Architecture and Urban Planning in cooperation with the Office of Information Technology and Communications, Office of the outdoor advertising and information are carried out the development of the terms for the preparation of the electronic calculator, said Zhanna Belitskaya.

She drew attention to the fact that colleagues from Moscow are already interested in this innovation.
