(Kazan city, KZN.RU, July 14). Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin met with the Mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo on July 14. One of the main purposes of the visit to the French capital was to discuss the further development of the World Organization “United Cities and Local Governments”. Ilsur Metshin and Anne Hidalgo are co-presidents of the organization, so they are the key players of UCLG. Ilsur Metshin is also the president of the Eurasian section of UCLG.
The meeting of mayors held during the celebration of Bastille Day. “It is a good luck to discuss the future strategy of the world organization development in such a momentous day”, - said Ilsur Metshin.
The parties discussed the terms of the strengthening of an effective dialogue and cooperation between the regional offices, the future structure and objectives of the organization, and preparations for the UCLG World Congress in Bogota. The Congress will be held in the capital of Colombia, in October 2016. A key issue will be the election of a new president and the leadership of the organization.
Also, the prospects of development of tourist flows between Kazan and Paris, the exchange of best practices in this field were discussed during today's meeting.
