I. Metshin: "The construction of hotels of different price segment is welcomed in Kazan"

(Kazan City KZN.RU, June 17, Zilya Gayfi). Session of interdepartmental working group on construction in the historical center of Kazan was held today in the Executive Committee of the city. At the meeting, chaired by the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, 14 sites were considered. According to the results, number of projects was submitted to the President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, some the projects were sent back for revision and postponed for reconsideration, the majority of projects were approved.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan Svetlana Persova, the chief architect of Kazan Tatiana Prokofieva, Tatarstan President assistant Olesya Baltusova, prefect of the territory "Old City" Marat Usmanov, Head of Architecture and Urban Planning Department Vladimir Fomin, as well as leading architects of the city.

Among the proposals construction of three hotels was approved. One of them will be located at st. Narimanov, 62 in the Old Tatar settlement. According to Tatyana Prokofieva, building site is adjacent to an object of cultural heritage - the printing house "Millet", and fits into the architectural ensemble of the territory. The construction of another hotel at st. Telman, 17 was approved at the meeting of the working group. As noted by Tatiana Prokofieva, facade is in the style of neo-classicism, natural stone is planned to be used in the decoration. Architect, author of the project Alexander Dembich shared plans to build a hotel with built-in theater variety show at st. Korotchenko. His project has also been approved.

Ilsur Metshin stressed the importance of such projects for the city. "The construction of hotels of different price segment is welcomed in Kazan - this is a good trend, which shows the attractiveness of the city to investors. In the past May holidays we have once again seen, how much the hotel infrastructure is in demand among tourists,"- the Mayor said.

In addition to construction projects, projects for the reconstruction of buildings in the historic center were discussed. Thus, the following projects got the approval: reconstruction of berthing facilities of Sailing Center and boating on the peninsula "Locomotive", building at st. B.Shahidi where "Smena" center is located, building at Ostrovsky street, 57b, which is planned to be remade under the hotel. According to Tatyana Prokofieva, repair work at these facilities will not affect the external parameters of buildings.

Also a project to build a shopping complex on the market at st. Chehov, multi-level parking with retail and office center at st. H.Taktash and attached building of the Kazan Research Medical Center of remediation technologies at st. Shalyapin, 39 are among approved. In the latter a training center of additional vocational education for training of health workers is planned to be placed.

Projects of construction of residential houses at streets Kalinin and Bolshaya Krasnaya got a number of comments. According the general opinion of experts, the volume of building is too large for an area with historical buildings. As a result, both projects were rejected. Also projects of complex of office buildings with underground parking at st. Mushtari, 14 was sent back for revision, projects for the construction of residential complex at Ostrovsky street and outhouse (administrative body) to the remand prison at st. Bolshaya, 98 were postponed.
