KZN.RU, September 7, Zilya Gayfi). The title of "Honorary Citizen of
Kazan" was awarded to the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed
Forces, First Deputy Defense Minister of Russia Valery Gerasimov. The
corresponding decision was made today by deputies at XLV session of Kazan City
Duma, which is chaired by the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin.
Chief of
General Staff of Russian Armed Forces, First Deputy Defense Minister of Russia,
Army General Valery Gerasimov is a native Kazan resident. Valery Gerasimov
studied at the Kazan Suvorov Military School, the Kazan Higher Tank Command
School. Educated in the capital of Tatarstan, Valery Gerasimov has remained
faithful to the military profession for life: he traveled a long way from
company commander to General of the Army, selflessly and honestly fulfilling
their civic duty.

Metshin noted major achievements of Valery Gerasimov. "Valery Gerasimov
never lost ties with Kazan: he is not indifferent to the fate of graduates of
Suvorov and Tank schools, takes care of the veterans officer, and working hard
to perpetuate the memory of the Great Patriotic War. He rendered a service in
the reconstruction of Victory Park in Kazan for the 70th anniversary of the
Victory, donated unique historical military equipment, including the legendary
tank "T-34"to the museum in the open air. Assigning the title "Honorary
Citizen of Kazan" is an expression of respect of Kazan residents to the
worthy compatriot ", - said the Mayor.
