I.Metshin on the construction of the Zarechnaya sewerage pumping station

The utility services of the city and my predecessors have been dreaming about the Zarechnaya sewerage pumping station for almost 30 years. This is a crucial facility for the development of Kazan. The construction of the Zarechnaya station is comparable in importance to the construction of the Millennium Bridge, the Great Kazan Ring road. Everyone can see the results of that projects, when people drive along these roads, while this work is hidden from the view.

The construction of the sewerage pumping station in this location was planned back in 1996, but at that time there was no technology to implement such a project. This site is located between the old channel of the Kazanka River and the new channels of the Kazanka and Volga, there is a very strong flow of underground water and difficult hydrogeological conditions. We faced a lot of technical challenges, the solution of which was found for the first time in the country. Thanks to our specialists, builders, who were able to implement such a complex project.

First, we have removed the risk of accidents at the old Verkhnaya station, which has worked at the limit of its capacity for many years, and secondly, the new station will allow us to build 4 million sq. m. in Zarechye of housing for 250 thousand people-this number is equal to the population of Nizhnekamsk. Builders, developers, and investors expected this project, because the site has a great potential for construction, and now we will be able to implement it.

According to the Ministry of Construction, Housing, and Utilities of Russia, over the past five years, this is one of the largest infrastructure projects implemented in the country.

We thank our President and our government for their support. We hope that it will become a good tradition to introduce not only transport infrastructure facilities, schools, kindergartens, but also such powerful utility facilities for generating heat and electricity. The development of the city wouldn’t be possible without this.
