I. Metshin about the organization of school meals

10 years ago, having organized school meals, we were sure that it was one of the best in Russia. This was noted even at the federal level. But any mechanism requires tuning. So today we have started this. This is a large and complex process that requires organization, interagency interaction. But the organization of school meals, the health of our children, well-being, and safety were, are and will be one of the main priorities of our work.

A roadmap for improving school catering has been built. Some issues will be resolved by September 1, others during the school year, and a number of other tasks have been set for the next year or two.

This year an unprecedented program is being implemented in Kazan. Major repairs of canteens are carried out in 36 schools of the city, school restaurants will open there instead by September 1. We will spend 170 million rubles on this overhaul. We did not plan these expenses at the beginning of the year. But the city is a living organism, and when questions arise, we intend to solve them.

Of course, much attention must be paid to the quality of food in addition to the overhaul. Since September 1, children will be offered a new menu in Kazan school canteens. It is important for us that children eat healthily. Even rich have switched to chips and sandwiches a long time ago. Their community, parents, and health care agreed on it. But we believe that we need a healthy generation, and therefore we will develop school catering.
