Rustam Minnikhanov visits Kazan's National Education Center
(Kazan, KZN.RU, October 6). President Rustam Minnikhanov visited Tatarstan's first National Education Center in Kazan. He was accompanied on the tour of the center, created on the basis of the Tatar Gymnasium No. 2, by Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin.
The Sh. Marjani Tatar Gymnasium No. 2 has been operating in its new status – as the National Education Center – since September 1. The main goal of the center is achieving continuity of education in the Tatar language, starting with kindergarten through high school, based on the history, traditions and culture of the indigenous people. The gymnasium will be a resource center for the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan and of Kazan Federal University for the preservation, synthesis and dissemination of experience in organizing education in the mother tongue.
The Tatarstan president was showed the school museum, including an exhibit dedicated to Shigabutdin Marjani. Here the guests of honor were showed a number of 19th century items. The school keeps about 400 samples of Tatar painting and sculpture, and some of them were also demonstrated to the president of Tatarstan.
