(Kazan, KZN.RU, September 15, by Adel Galiev). The voter turnout in the 5th Tatarstan State Council election amounted to 67% in Kazan, with 613,110 residents coming to the polls. Preliminary election results were announced at today's Business Monday meeting by Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin.
One of the most impressive results was voter turnout in Kazan – almost 67% (66.95%). "The turnout was 1% higher than in the 2009 elections," said the mayor comparing the numbers.
"The overall vote results in in republic are as follows: United Russia gained 74.09% in Kazan, Fair Russia – 8.71%, the Native Party – 1.1%, The Liberal Democratic Party – 3.52%, The Communist Party – 7.75%, Motherland – 0.81% and The Communists of Russia – 2.75%," the mayor announced the preliminary data. "Parliament must represent all interests and parties. We hope that they will work smoothly and in unison, and, most importantly, in the interests of the people who expressed confidence in them," said Ilsur Metshin.
The mayor emphasized the fact that United Russia has improved its voter support by almost 3% compared to the 2009 elections. "We must do everything possible to justify the credibility bestowed on us by Kazan residents," said I. Metshin.
