I.Metshin proposes creation of a unified linguistic call-center in Kazan
(KZN.RU, February 28, by Taisiya Basharkina) Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin proposed establishing a unified linguistic call-center at a meeting of the headquarters for Universiade preparation. The service will help foreign visitors overcome language barrier and partly alleviate the shortage of foreign language-speaking staff.
“We can’t provide an interpreter for every foreign visitor; we simply don’t have enough speakers of foreign languages. Therefore, we need to consider creating a hot line, where one can ask questions,” said the mayor.
By calling the call-center number, a foreigner will be able to get an interpreter, no matter where he or she is: in a bus, taxi, restaurant or hotel.
