Assembly of stage for Universiade opening ceremony starts at "Kazan Arena"
(KZN.RU, March 4, Taisiya Basharkina) On March 5, installation of steel structures of the stage for the 2013 World Summer Student Games opening and closing ceremonies will begin at the new football stadium "Kazan Arena". It is worth recalling that the stage, to be seen by the whole world during the opening and closing ceremonies, will be mounted on unique 55-meter high structures weighing about 470 tons.
As Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin put it, the construction of the huge structures, including the erection of the supporting columns, is comparable to the most complicated surgery. "It's not even an orchestra under the baton of the conductor, it’s like eye surgery using a thin scalpel," he emphasized.
