Ilsur Metshin launches rehearsals of Universiade opening ceremony
(KZN.RU, February 19, by Taisiya Basharkina) Rehearsals of the 27th World Summer Universiade opening ceremony started in Kazan. Mayor Ilsur Metshin, who heads an interdepartmental working group on preparation for the ceremony, spoke with the young Kazan performers engaged in the show.
The rehearsals are held simultaneously at three venues: The Moskva sports arena, the Sports Palace and the theater "Ekiyat." For the moment, only Kazan performers are engaged. They were selected by an audition conducted by the "Kazan 2013" management last fall. The ceremony will be attended by 70 artistic groups from Kazan, totaling some 1.5 thousand people.
Dress rehearsals for the pageant will kick off a month before the start of the Games at the football stadium at Chistopolskaya Street. Work on the stadium is proceeding around the clock. At the same time, a stage for the Universiade opening ceremony is being built.
