The houses built in the 19th century are objects of cultural heritage of regional importance. They were in a state of disrepair for a long time. A boutique hotel with 25 rooms and a restaurant will open here after the renovation.
«The center of our millennial Kazan is unique and very beautiful, therefore the preservation of cultural heritage sites is one of our priorities, to which we devote a lot of effort and attention. This year, 27 heritage sites will be renovated, each of which we control jointly with colleagues from the Committee for the Protection of Monuments, – said Ilsur Metshin, Mayor of Kazan. – The house on Baumana Street is one of such unique places. It is planned to open a boutique hotel after the renovation. A 150-room hotel will also be built in this block. All this will replenish Kazan's tourist collection, strengthening its status as a historical, architectural and tourist center of the Volga region».
Houses at 32 and 34 Baumana Street are a single historical complex. Restoration work on the facilities is carried out simultaneously. The readiness of house at 32 Baumana st., which has an area of 851.9 square meters, is 90%, and it is planned to put it into operation by the end of this year. The second building of the complex, house No. 34– has an area of 647.8 square meters, the roof work is underway here.
Restoration projects have been coordinated with the Tatarstan Committee for the Protection of Cultural Heritage Sites. To save the architectural monuments, a set of measures was carried out: specialists reinforced the load-bearing walls, replaced the floors, dismantled the late Soviet layers and restored the brickwork. The lost elements were recreated based on archival documents and scientific research.
Special attention was paid to historical authenticity, in particular, when choosing the color of the facade. The experts determined that the original color was a delicate pink hue, which was chosen for the final finish.
Fragments of authentic 19th-century brickwork were preserved in the basements, which were carefully cleaned by hand for later use in the interior. It is planned to leave it open. A final decision on the functional use of the basement space will be made later.
Presently, the main structural work has been completed. According to the owner of the facilities, Renat Ibragimov, the buildings are currently at the stage of engineering preparation: modern water supply, sewerage, heat and electricity supply systems are being installed inside, as well as fire alarms.
