By December 1, a new annex to school №19 will open in Kazan
The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin inspected the construction work at
school №19. The new facility for 300 schoolchildren will have an area of 5,400
sq.m. Currently, 1,813 children study at the 800-seat school.
“There was a demand in a construction of an annex to the school. Thanks
to the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov: he supported our proposal
to build a facility for 300 additional places. The annex will be commissioned
on December 1 with a gym, an assembly hall, a power supply unit, and 12
additional classrooms. There will be everything to ensure that our students
start a third of the school quarter in updated conditions, and we will continue
this work,”- Ilsur Metshin said.
The new two-storey building will be equipped with sports and assembly
halls, a restaurant complex and 12 classrooms. To date, the work has been
completed by 48%: bricklaying, installation of the ventilation system,
electrical work in the basement has been almost completed.
“School №19 is traditionally one of the leaders of education not only
in the capital, but also in the whole republic, the Volga Federal District. It
enters the top 5 schools in Kazan, in the top 10 in Tatarstan. The school has good
traditions, a strong team, therefore parents have a great desire not only from
the nearby neighborhood, but also from the whole city for studying their
children here,”- Ilsur Metshin added.
The director of the school, Andrey Talmanov, said that renovation was
carried out in the school this summer. Finishing works were carried out in the
assembly and sports halls, in two classrooms, repair of bathrooms, utility
block, also replaced the roof, updated the facade, engineering networks and the
The school was built in 1987, the total area of the
building is over 10 thousand sq.m. Many initiatives to renovate the institution
come from the director, for example, another spacious study office with its own
recording studio has been organized. It is also planned to improve the ice rink.
