By September,
the overhaul of 10 departments of the Doverie Center for Psychological and
Pedagogical Assistance to children and youth will be completed in Kazan. The renovation
began with the support of Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov. Every year,
about 50 thousand teenagers and young people receive assistance at the center.
The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin inspected the work in one of the departments
of the center – the Serdesh psychological service.
The Doverie
Center for Psychological and Pedagogical Assistance to children and youth was
established in 1995, when a helpline began functioning in the city. In the same
year, under the auspices of the center, other departments of the psychological
service were established in all districts of the city. Every year, 50 thousand
teenagers and young people receive psychological assistance at the Doverie
center. Specialists of the center provide family consultations, as well as the assistance
in choosing a profession and support in difficult life situations. For young
people aged 14 to 35, these services are free of charge.
Ilsur Metshin
noted the importance of modern psychological assistance centers for the city. “The
interior and equipment of each department were designed together with designers
and psychologists. All repair works are carried to make the facilities as
comfortable as possible for both specialists and those who come here for help,”-
the head of the city said.
One of the
departments of the Doverie – the Serdesh psychological service – has been located on the first floor at 14
Gogovikova Sreet since 1995. For 27 years, it has never been renovated. As of
today, the main works have already been completed at the department – utilities
have been updated, ceilings have been repaired and the ventilation system has
been replaced, work with low-current electrical networks, design of walls and
ceilings, as well as replacement of windows and entrances are to be completed.
The Mayor of
Kazan together with the director of the service Natalia Sabirova inspected the
premises where the sensory room, children's play areas, classes for teamwork
and offices will be located.
After the
overhaul is completed, the center will employ 13 employees – psychologists,
specialists in working with young children, youth and adults, as well as a
teacher. Natalia Sabirova said that since the beginning of the pandemic, even
in the summer, the service's specialists have been working hard. “Now the
appointment is two weeks ahead, and in other seasons the waiting period is more
than a month ahead,”- she added.
Residents of the
Aviastroitelny district receive assistance at the center, as well as those who
need the assistance from all over Kazan, and sometimes from nearby cities of
the republic. The Serdesh center also provides psychological assistance,
including victims of violence.
Every day, the
staff serves up to 25 people, including children, teenagers, and adults. Serdesh
is most often asked for help in crises when people feel loneliness, ignorance
of peers, and young families come to the service because of communication
issues and thoughts of separation. Specialists conduct one-time consultations,
as well as long-term psychotherapy lasting up to 2-3 months.
After the renovation,
Serdesh will open to visitors in August, repairs in other departments of the Doverie
center, including in the new branch on 8 Marta Street, are also planned to be
completed until the beginning of school year.
