Kazan City Hall discussed preparation of the hospitality industry for the 2013 Universiade.
(KZN.RU, May 25, by Alisa Rozanova) Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin instructed city restaurateurs and hoteliers to improve the level of the hospitality industry on the eve of the 2013 Universiade.
One hundred forty executives of leading restaurants and hotels of the city and its environs, heads of Kazan Executive Committee divisions and heads of district administrations attended a special meeting of Kazan City Hall to discuss preparations for the World Student Games.
"The Universiade is an excellent opportunity to make Kazan more attractive. The standard of hospitality may impress visitors even more than the new sports facilities," believes Ilsur Metshin.
One factor that can raise Kazan’s hospitality industry to international standards is the knowledge of a foreign language by the service personnel. Ilsur Metshin instructed the restaurateurs and hoteliers to launch instruction in the English language. "We have a year ahead of us, and this is long enough. A huge benefit is that one of the world’s best schools of distance learning -- «English First» -- has opened its branch in Kazan," said Ilsur Metshin.
The company is currently training Tatarstan’s English teachers and state employees and is ready to provide training on favorable terms to the hospitality employees. "No one can take education away from you," the mayor quoted the English proverb.
