The Tasma Olympic reserve school will overhaul the judo hall and athletic tracks at the stadium this year, and in 2021 it is planned to build a judo center. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, checked the progress of repair work at the venue.
“Children should train in conditions worthy of the capital of Tatarstan, - Ilsur Metshin said. – Thanks to Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov for non-stop execution the current programs, as well as decision to build a comprehensive judo center in 2021. New champions will grow up here, and even more children will join this sport”.
Albert Salikhov, chairman of the Committee of physical culture and sports, told the Mayor that the judo hall on Gagarin str., 56 was built in 1976, the last time the repair was carried out in 2007.
“All utilities, roofs and interior premises will be repaired. There will be a new women's locker room, specialized equipment designed for judo classes”, - A.Salikhov said. He also noted that due to the self-isolation regime, overhaul was suspended, but resumed a month ago. To date, the roof has been replaced by 50%, the hall, locker rooms and offices are being repaired, electrical work is underway, and the installation of the heating system has begun. It is also planned to repair the front. The work is scheduled to be completed by the end of August. The head of the city instructed to strictly observe the planned deadlines.
Presently, under the “Sport – the way of life” national project, athletic tracks are also being changed, Rezeda Shurygina, director of the Tasma sports school and honored coach of Russia, told the Mayor.
In 2021, the construction of a judo center with a capacity of 250 people and three tatami mats is planned on the territory of the sports school. Up to 60 people will be able to train there at the same time, R.Shurygina said. Design work is already underway.
In total, 1014 people train in the Tasma sports school and 32 coaches work there. One honored master of sports of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tatarstan, 4 masters of sports of international class, 62 masters of sports of the USSR and Russia, and 80 candidates for master of sports have been trained in the sports school.
Ilsur Metshin spoke with famous athletes. Among them are the winner of the Russian athletics championship, Polina Platonova, who qualified the Paralympic games, the winner of the Russian archery championship, as well as a member of the Russian national team Nikita Bakhromeyev, the winner of the European archery championship, and the master of sports of international class Daria Oreshnikova. The Mayor of Kazan appreciated the experience of the sports school's coaching staff. “You are one of the mature, experienced leaders of the sports community, who has prepared many champions, - the head of the city addressed the director of the sports school. - You are our treasure”.
“No doubt, it is important for us that children win national competitions and outside of our country. But our main task is to educate a healthy generation. So that more and more children are engaged in sports, physical education, become adherents of a healthy lifestyle all their lives. Before the Universiade, 18% of Kazan citizens were systematically engaged in sports. Today we are approaching the 50% rate. After the pandemic, I think the number of people involved in sports will be even greater”, - the Mayor concluded.
