(KZN.RU, September 10, Ksenia Shvetsova). Thanks to the XVII World Conference of the League of Historical Cities, Kazan had an opportunity to get acquainted with the best practices of the world's leading experts in preserving the historical and cultural heritage, said Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, today at the Business Monday.
The conference will be held in Russia for the first time. Holding such an important event will be an opportunity for Kazan to exchange the experience of preserving the historical heritage with other cities, believes I. Metshin. He noted that today the capital of Tatarstan with its rich history occupies a special place in the League of Historical Cities. “Now when we have gained experience in holding international events, it is very important to take new events. Kazan is not the only city with a historical heritage in the country. It makes holding the event in our city even more significant”, said I. Metshin. “Leading world experts come to such platforms. We will have an opportunity to get acquainted with the best practices to preserve our historical heritage”. He also added that the conference in 2020 will supplement the treasury of important events that will be organized in the year of the republic's centennial anniversary.
Yesterday it became known that Kazan won the right to hold the XVII World Conference of the League of Historical Cities in 2020. This decision was made by the Board of Directors of the League at the XVI conference held in Turkish. The members of the League are cities with unique culture and traditions, with historical heritage. The organization includes more than 100 cities of various countries with a large number of outstanding buildings, architectural monuments, attractions, and historical sites.
