Kazan became the winner of the republican action “ECOvesna”
(KZN.RU, June 9). Kazan is recognized as the best urban district following the results of the republican action “ECOvesna”. The award is a statuette depicting a swan, a symbol of the action, and a certificate for the purchase of small architectural forms for children's playgrounds. Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the RT, presented it to Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan.
The awarding of the winners of the republican action took place within the framework of the traditional Saturday republican meeting in the video conference mode devoted to the issues of construction and agriculture.
A number of criteria were taken into account in determining winners. In particular, compliance with environmental legislation, the number of identified and liquidated places of unauthorized waste disposal, the number of environmental education and environmental activities conducted, as well as the number of participants in environmental activities.
The ecological two-month period and the republican contest “ECOvesna-2018” started in the republic on April 1. Environmental activities were held in all areas of Tatarstan for two months. The purity of the rivers, lakes, and parks of the republic was under the special attention. Anyone could take part in the cleaning of the city.
Within the framework of “ECOvesna”, various actions took place on planting trees, making nest boxes. The schools conducted ecological lessons, lectures on the flora and fauna of Tatarstan were given in local lore museums. In addition, there were forums devoted to the protection of the environment.
