The concert dedicated to the Day of the Russian Language was held at the opera theater

(KZN.RU, June 6). A festive concert dedicated to the Day of the Russian Language and the 219th anniversary of the birth of the poet Alexander Pushkin was held today in Kazan on the stage of the Tatar Academic State Opera and Ballet Theater named after M. Jalil.

Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the RT, Mintimer Shaimiev, the State Councilor of the RT, Leila Fazleeva, the deputy prime minister of the RT, Asgat Safarov, the head of the Presidential Administration of the RT, Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, and other officials attended the event.

The concert was opened by Vasily Lanovoy, a People's Artist of the USSR, famous actor of theater and cinema, public figure. He congratulated everyone on the Day of Russian Language and read one of the poems of the great Pushkin.

Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the RT, also congratulated everyone on the Day of the Russian Language.

“Today we especially note the linking role of the Russian language, which unites many people and serves as a bridge for mutual understanding between the peoples of our vast country”, said Rustam Minnikhanov. “Many personify the Russian language and literature, first of all, with the name of Pushkin. Having absorbed the high moral values of the Russian people from a young age, he sang them in his work and opened it to the whole world. Pushkin's legacy by right is one of the treasures of world literature and the property of the entire Russian people.

An invaluable contribution to the development of Russian world culture was made by Leo Tolstoy, the greatest writer and thinker. His life in Kazan played a role in the formation of his personality, in shaping his worldview. We highly appreciate the heritage of the great writer and humanist, therefore 2018 in the Republic of Tatarstan was declared the Year of Tolstoy, noted the President of the RT.

He also added that the teachers of the Russian language and the cultural and art figures, spiritual leaders, enthusiasts-publicists have a huge role in preserving the creative heritage of the great thinkers, in the development of the Russian language and culture. The President also expressed the opinion that we can instill love and respect for the language, preserve traditions by participating in republican and national festivals and events, such as Karavon, Spassky Fair, Alekseevsky chimes, Cyril and Methodius Readings.

The President of the RT also presented state awards of the RT to cultural figures, public figures, teachers of the Russian language and literature. The event ended with the performance of creative bands, reports the press service of the President of the RT.
