(KZN.RU,
May 15, Ksenia Shvetsova). Today Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, met with
the Consul General of Turkey in Kazan. The head of the capital of Tatarstan
congratulated Mr. Ahmet Sadyk Dogan on his birthday and wished him success in
his new position as head of the Consulate General of the Republic of Turkey in
Kazan.
Ilsur
Metshin noted that long friendly relations link the Republic of Tatarstan and
the Republic of Turkey. Today Kazan is a sister city of four Turkish cities:
Eskisehir, Istanbul, Antalya, and Ankara. “Over more than 20 years of history,
our cooperation with the Republic of Turkey has been developing well in all
major areas: economy, industry, politics, healthcare, and much more. Our states
are separated by a great distance, but this never hindered the development of
our friendly relations and a productive exchange of experience”, said the
Mayor.
He also
added that Kazan citizens appreciate the possibility of direct flights to
Turkey and are grateful to Turkish airlines, which carry out daily direct
flights to Istanbul. “Istanbul is one of the largest hubs and the most
beautiful cities in the world”, marked I. Metshin. He added that strengthening
of Kazan's cooperation with Turkish cities, exchange of experience and joint
work open great prospects for both states. “We hope that we will continue our
cooperation with your arrival. I am sure that our cooperation will help us to
realize many new projects useful both for the residents of the Republic of
Tatarstan and for the people of the Republic of Turkey”, said the Mayor.
Ahmet Sadyk
Dogan thanked Ilsur Metshin for his congratulations and shared his impressions
of Kazan. According to the Consul General, he arrived in the capital of
Tatarstan in January this year. “We already had time to get acquainted with the
city, we feel at home here”, said the Consul General. “Kazan is a very
important city for us. We will do everything possible to strengthen cooperation
between the City Hall of Kazan and the City Hall of Istanbul”. He reminded that
2019 was declared a “bond” year of culture and tourism between Turkey and
Russia. “We would like Kazan to hold various events in Turkey, and we would
like to hold our events here”, said Ahmed Sadyk Dogan. He expressed the hope
that a Turkish cultural center will appear in Kazan like in Moscow, where the
center of Turkish culture named after Yunus Emre opened recently.
At the end
of the meeting, Ilsur Metshin wished successes to the Consul General in his new
position and expressed the hope that the cooperation between Russia and Turkey
will be strengthened.
Daria
Sannikova, the chairman of the Committee for Tourism Development, took part in
the meeting, which was held in the Kazan City Hall.
