(KZN.RU, April 23, Alsu Safina). Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, urged to celebrate Victory Day at a worthy level and surround veterans of the Great Patriotic War with the care.
“Victory Day is a special one in a series of holidays, which we traditionally celebrate in the country”, said the head of the city. “We should hold it worthy this year”.

For several weeks in Kazan, there will be rallies, court festivals, folk festivities and meetings of heads of administration with veterans.
The Mayor drew attention to the fact that the main responsibility lies with the district administrations. “Unfortunately, there are less than 1 thousand participants in the war left. You know them all, I ask you to surround them with attention, care, warmth, respect”, said Ilsur Metshin, addressing the heads of district administrations.

This year, with the assistance of district administrations, repairs are planned in 23 apartments of single and needy veterans of the Great Patriotic War. Students of universities and colleges will help lonely veterans with cleaning in apartments and on private plots. On the eve of the holiday, 4134 war participants and widows of participants will receive gifts, food sets. In addition, veterans of the war and equated to them on benefits persons passed an annual comprehensive medical examination in city polyclinics.
According to the Mayor, special attention should also be paid to the younger generation. “Unfortunately, there is a desire to rewrite history in the world. Our children, young people should know who won the war, on whose shoulders were hardships in the rear, as victory was forged on the fronts”. One of the measures that meet this goal will be the traditional “Immortal Regiment”. This year the action will be held on the same route as last year. The gathering of participants on May 9 is at 1 pm. The column is formed from the intersection of K. Marks and Gorky streets in the area of the Agrarian University and moves to the Millennium Square. All-Russian start of the action is planned at 3 pm.
On May 4, 150 schoolchildren will take part in the city scientific-practical conference “Chronicles of Victory”, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Red Army. Students will meet with veterans and workers of the rear in more than 100 school museums, with exhibits about the Great Patriotic War.
