R. Minnikhanov: “Local self-government is the most important link in the system of public administration”

(KZN.RU, April 21). Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the RT, congratulated the representatives of the local self-government bodies on the professional holiday, the Day of Local Self-Government.

Solemn event was held in the GTRK “Korston”.

“Today, local government is the most important link in the system of public administration. It is the closest to the public level of public authority, which, in direct interaction with citizens, solves the most pressing problems of their life”, said Rustam Minnikhanov addressing the participants of the event.

According to Rustam Minnikhanov, today about 15 thousand people are involved in the implementation of local self-government in the republic.

Rustam Minnikhanov thanked all representatives of the local self-government of the republic for productive work, great contribution to improving the life quality of citizens in our cities and regions. He also expressed gratitude to the veterans of local authorities for the formation of a strong foundation for the economy and infrastructure of cities and regions, a great contribution to the development of local authorities.

“Preservation and strengthening of confidence on the part of the population require from us further focused work on solving the issues of cities and regions territories development, improving the life quality of the Tatarstan people”, said the President of the RT. “Republican programs are aimed at this”.

Rustam Minnikhanov also recalled that the development of urban environment is carried out, the public spaces and yards are being improved, etc.

According to him, measures of self-taxation of citizens proved to be a good help and successful practice in solving urgent issues of rural settlements.

Measures are being successfully implemented to strengthen the material and technical base of local self-government bodies, to stimulate the effective activity of local self-government bodies and their employees, reports the press service of the President of the RT.

Rustam Minnikhanov said that a decision was made to allocate new computer equipment to all municipal entities of the republic on the eve of the Day of Local Self-Government.

“Our common goal is to strengthen local self-government, expand its financial independence and resource capabilities. And it is necessary to create conditions for attracting and retaining qualified managers in local bodies. An increase in the amount of money is provided for municipal employees”.
