(KZN.RU, April 19, Alsu Safina). Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of
Kazan, met with Erkin Tukumov, the Consul General of Kazakhstan, today. They
discussed issues of mutual cooperation at the meeting that took place in the
Kazan City Hall. Evgenia Lodvigova, the deputy head of Kazan, also attended the
event.
The Consulate General of the Republic of Kazakhstan has been
operating in Kazan since July 5, 2013. It serves citizens of Kazakhstan living
in Bashkiria, Mary El, Mordovia, Tatarstan, Udmurtia, Chuvashia, as well as in
the Kirov, Nizhny Novgorod, Penza, Sverdlovsk, and Ulyanovsk regions and Perm
Krai.
Erkin Tukumov has been the Consul General of Kazakhstan in
Kazan since January this year. Earlier in 2010, he was the head of the
analytical department of the Security Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
“Kazan welcomes very well, warm. I was in many cities of the world, and Kazan
is a beautiful city, architecturally original”, Erkin Tukumov shared his first
impressions of the capital of the RT. “I am glad that I continued my diplomatic
mission in Kazan and in fraternal Tatarstan. I feel myself both as a guest and
as at home here”.
The Consul General of Kazakhstan in Kazan thanked the head
of the city for the opportunity of this meeting, especially in the period of
preparation for the World Cup and works on the improvement of the city. Erkin
Tukumov marked that it is important for him to meet with the Mayor of the city.
“I know that you are doing a lot for the development of the city”, he said.
Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, noted that there are two
fraternal peoples living in Tatarstan and Kazakhstan, which are connected by a
centuries-old history with each other. As for the large amount of work ahead of
World Cup, the head of the city noted that for the city authorities such a regime
has already become familiar. One event that takes place in the city replaces
the other, and there are enough works related to the improvement of the city at
any time of year. “This is a usual mode of work for us”, said I. Metshin.
After that, the Mayor of the city and the Consul General of
Kazakhstan in Kazan discussed cooperation issues.
At present, Kazan's cooperation with Kazakhstan is carried
out within the framework of a number of documents. An agreement on cooperation
in trade and economic, scientific, technical and cultural fields with Alma-Ata
(1996) and the Memorandum on twinning and partnership relations with Astana
(2004), the Memorandum of Cooperation between TOO “Astana Convention Bureau”
and the MBU “Committee Assistance to the Development of Tourism in Kazan”
(2016). The development of cooperation between Kazan and Kazakhstan is carried
out within the framework of existing treaties.
Air traffic is established between the capital of Tatarstan
and Kazakhstan cities. So, the international airport of Kazan carries out
direct flights to Almaty and Astana. In 2016, 3587 citizens of Kazakhstan
arrived in Kazan, and in 2017, their number increased to 7932 people.
