Preparation of the city for the World Cup was discussed in the Kazan Executive Committee

(KZN.RU, March 20, Alsu Safina). Preparation of the city for the upcoming World Cup was discussed today at a working meeting in the Kazan Executive Committee with the participation of Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan. The participants of the meeting considered numerous ideas of sculptures, graffiti, installations, drawings on the grass, photo zones, decoration of facades of buildings, etc.

The head of the city noted that it is important that the fans arriving in Kazan feel the hospitality of the city. According to the Mayor, it is necessary that Kazan be recognizable, had its own characteristics that would distinguish it from other cities, which will also host the matches of the Cup, thanks to new original art objects and design elements. It is supposed to establish art objects and organize photo zones in places that will become the main attraction points for the city's guests. In particular, they will be placed on Bauman Street, the central pedestrian street of Kazan, on the fan festival site, in the Staro-Tatarskaya Sloboda, on the Millennium Square, and others. Particular attention will be paid to the floral design of Kazan.

Ilsur Metshin noted that the preparation of the city for the World Cup is activated immediately after the snow melts. In general, it is necessary to work on the same scheme and on an equal scale as in the preparation to the Universiade-2013 and the World Aquatics Championships.

Denis Kalinkin, the head of the Executive Committee, Damir Fattakhov, the first deputy head of the Executive Committee, Igor Kulyazhev, the deputy head of the Executive Committee and the chairman of the Committee for External Improvement, heads of district administrations, Tatiana Prokofieva, the chief architect of Kazan, Zhanna Belitskaya, the deputy head of the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning, Airat Faizov, the chairman of the Committee for Children and Youth Affairs, Rosa Zabbarova, the director of the trust “Gorvodzelenkhoz”, Marat Usmanov, the prefect of the territory “Stary Gorod”, took part in the meeting.

The Football World Cup will be held in Russia from June 14 to July 15. 6 matches will be played in Kazan. France will meet with Australia in the group stage on June 16, on June 20 – Iran with Spain, on June 24 – Poland with Colombia, and on June 27 – Korea with Germany. The 1/8 finals game will be held in Kazan on June 30, and 1/4 finals – on July 6.
