Ilsur Metshin: “We are in the top three in terms of the number of delivered housing among the regions”

(KZN.RU, February 5, Zilya Gayfi). The plan for housing construction in Kazan was overachieved in 2017. 958 thousand square meters were delivered, which is 20% more than a year earlier. In general, the city has grown by 8.4 million square meters of housing over the past 10 years, which is 35% more than in the previous decade. According to this indicator, the capital of Tatarstan took the 3rd place among the cities with a million population. Azat Nigmatzyanov, the first deputy head of the Executive Committee, cited such data today on the Business Monday.

According to him, multi-apartment housing (89% of the total volume) prevails among the delivered objects, the share of the built housing due to commercial investments amounted to 618 thousand square meters. 16 houses for 4086 apartments are delivered under the programs of the State Housing Fund.

“We are in the top three in terms of the number of delivered housing among the regions. This is a bright indicator of the well-being of our residents. The housing construction grew by 20%. Due to competition in the construction industry, the housing quality is increasing. This is a common thing For Europe but we are still only approaching environmental standards when energy-saving technologies are used. We hope this will become the norm for us”, noted Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan.

The solution to the problem of defrauded shareholders continued. Over the past year, 1360 apartments in six problem houses were delivered. “Throughout the year, those issues that require constant participation were resolved. It may seem that the construction has slipped and is experiencing difficulties. In fact, the numbers speak eloquently that the city is growing, and this is the main indicator of the development of the city and its economy”, said the Mayor.

In general, the city continues to expand. The new general plan provides for a population growth of up to 1.5 million people by 2035. It is necessary to deliver 700-800 thousand square meters of the housing every year to meet the demand.

“One of the important victories of recent years is the systematic work on creating a project for planning the territories together with the chief architect of the city. This allows starting a balanced work from the moment of construction. We clearly know where we will have social facilities, housing, roads, parks and squares, sports grounds. All this creates a comfortable environment for living”, commented the Mayor.

According to the head of the city, the capital's standard of living is gradually coming to the settlements. “107 thousand square meters of housing is a great number, this is the modernization of our settlements. In addition, we are building social objects in there. Previously, we could not even think that we would build houses of culture, kindergartens, and other social objects there. Over the past 10 years, we have become leaders. We build more than other million kindergartens, schools, clinics, hospitals. We are ahead of such cities as Novosibirsk, Ekaterinburg, and Nizhny Novgorod, not to mention Chelyabinsk, Samara, and Perm. This is a great merit of the leadership of our republic, and personally Rustam Minnikhanov, our President. The overwhelming majority of completed construction projects, which are not in other regions, are the initiatives of our President. We are very grateful for this”, said the Mayor and expressed his hope that 2018 will be productive for the builders.
