Kazan takes the experience of the Troitse-Sergiyeva Lavra in organizing pilgrimage tourism
(KZN.RU, February 2, Ekaterina Vislavskaya). Kazan will continue to develop pilgrimage tourism in 2018. Negotiations are underway with the Troitse-Sergiyeva Lavra on the exchange of experience, said Daria Sannikova, the director of the Committee of Tourism Promotion, during the traditional report of the Executive Committee's units to Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, on the results of work in 2017.
The place of the attraction of tourists should be a cathedral in honor of the Our Lady of Kazan, recreated on the territory of the Kazan-Bogoroditsky Monastery, where the Kazan image of the Blessed Virgin was found in July 1579. Experts recreate the decoration of the temple, which was lost in the 30s of the last century. The construction of the cathedral was started a year and a half ago by the Decree of Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the RT, with the assistance of the Republican Fund “Vozrozhdenie”.
“We see great potential in pilgrimage tourism and look forward to the completion of construction work in the Kazan-Bogoroditsky Monastery”, said D. Sannikova. “We are already negotiating, exchanging experience with the Troitse-Sergiyeva Lavra about how it is right and affordable to organize sightseeing services for tourists who come to holy places”.
Earlier it was decided to include the Pokrovsky Cathedral of the Kazan-Vyatka Eparchy of the Russian Orthodox Old Believer Church in city tourist routes.
