(KZN.RU,
December 1, Mikhail Chentsov). Ilsur Metshin, the head of the Tatarstan’s
capital, met with Adam Stiffter, Consul General of Hungary in Kazan, in the
Executive Committee. The parties discussed prospects for cooperation in the
areas of tourism, business, culture, as well as the possibility of launching a
direct flight Kazan - Budapest. Evgenia Lodvigova, the first deputy head of the
Kazan municipality, also took part in the meeting.
Having
greeted the guest, the head of the Tatarstan’s capital congratulated the Consul
General on his appointment. “I wish Kazan to become a native city for you”,
said Ilsur Metshin and noted the long-standing friendly relations between the
parties. The Mayor recalled that both Kazan and Budapest hosted the World
Aquatics Championships in 2015 and 2017. The cities cooperate on a number of
other projects. “We gave you the flag of the World Championship in water
sports. Your representative supported us in voting for the WorldSkills, where
every vote was important. Throughout the time we feel support from Budapest and
the Republic of Hungary”, marked the Mayor.
Ilsur
Metshin noted that the Hungarian national holidays are very similar to
Sabantuy. “The national songs, dances, customs on this holiday are very similar
to ours. Relations between our peoples are traditionally fraternal. There is a
great desire that they become even closer. I think we should work with you on a
direct flight Kazan - Budapest for this”, said the Mayor of Kazan. The head of
the city also invited the Consul General to visit Sabantuy-2018 in the capital
of Tatarstan together with his family and friends.
Adam
Stiffter thanked Ilsur Metshin for his warm welcome. According to the Consul
General, he was impressed by Kazan for a couple of months in the city. “I used
to live in Moscow and St. Petersburg but this is where people surprise me. They
are such decent and kind, it is very rare nowadays. Once again, thank you very
much”, said A. Stiffter. He also thanked the Mayor of Kazan for the invitation
to Sabantuy, and noted that the Tatar and Hungarian peoples indeed have a lot
of common roots.
“It is
important that we develop new directions in our relations. Therefore, I am
