R. Minnikhanov held a meeting of the republican organizing committee “Russia-2018”

(KZN.RU, September 12). Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, held a meeting of the republican organizing committee “Russia-2018” for preparing and holding the World Cup.

Alexey Pesoshin, the prime minister of the RT, Dmitry Godunov, the operational director of the Organizing Committee “Russia-2018”, Asgat Safarov, the head of the Presidential Administration of the RT, Shamil Gafarov, the deputy prime minister of the RT and the head of the Cabinet of Ministers Administration of the RT, heads of republican ministries and departments of the RT took part in the meeting.

Rustam Minnikhanov noted that this summer, Kazan first hosted the Confederations Cup along with Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Sochi. "It was a unique opportunity to see big world football. In general, we received positive feedback from both FIFA and participating countries by the results of the Cup, as well as from fans that came to our city from different countries”, he said.

According to the President, a large-scale and coordinated work was carried out during the preparation of events and in the days of the matches. All responsible services fulfilled their tasks at the highest level, marked Rustam Minnikhanov. However, Tatarstan will have to host a tournament of a completely different level in 2018. “We should stay alert. We should note the weaknesses that were present in our work and eliminate them”, Rustam Minnikhanov addressed the meeting participants.

Dmitry Godunov, the operational director of the ANO “Organizational Committee “Russia-2018”, Vladimir Leonov, the minister of Youth Affairs and Sports of the RT, and Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, spoke further, reports the press service of the President of the RT.
