(KZN.RU,
August 23). The competition for the best program of ecological education of
schoolchildren starts in Kazan. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, announced
this today at the 95th city August conference of educators in the Volga Academy
of Physical Culture, Sports, and Tourism.
The Mayor
of Kazan reminded that the topic of ecology in the city was seriously worked
out several years ago when city actions “Green Record”, “Blooming Kazan”, “100
Squares” were launched. Now the presidential program for the improvement of
parks and squares brought this issue to a qualitatively new level.
The
prevailing opinion in the society that people will never become accustomed to
separate collection of garbage is a sign of lack of ecological consciousness,
believes the Mayor. “Unfortunately, adults are hard to retrain but the children
need to be explained the importance of ecology”, I. Metshin said about the
prerequisites for launching the contest. He noted that he counts on the
teachers' help in this matter since the role of the school in ecological
education is irreplaceable.
Ilsur
Metshin reminded that the idea of holding fairs of good was born in schools,
which then developed into a whole city movement “Good Kazan”. By the way, the
success of the project prompted the city authorities to continue the tradition
of holding the Autumn Good Week and giving the Diary of Good Deeds to
first-graders. At the same time, the Mayor marked that the principle of
voluntary participation in any initiatives is important here. “The ideas of
good, charity, and philanthropy are not to be forced up, by instructions and
directives”, he said and added that the city is ready to support any kind of
good undertaking.
