I.Metshin: “We couldn’t cut the playgrounds and green spaces for the sake of cars”

(KZN.RU, May 17, Anton Nozdrin). The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin inspected the yard renovation works in between several apartment blocks on Adoratskiy Street and Marshal Chuikov Street. There are 3,000 residents in these apartment blocks. Residents had a conversation with the Mayor and mentioned that the renovation of their yard is a miracle came true that they had wanted for years, and asked to renovate the children's playground too. The Mayor instructed the management company to do so.

At this moment the roadway in the yard is under repair. Igor Kulyazhev, deputy head of Executive Committee – Chairman of Committee of provision of public amenities said that it is also planned to improve lighting pillars and remove all the old trees.

I.Kulyazhev also said that most of old apartment blocks are facing the problem with the lack of parking spaces. This particular yard obtained 180 additional parking places due to renovations. Overall the city will obtail 3,000 new parking spaces. I. Metshin noted that all works must be discussed with the residents. “All the yard works that we are doing should be approved by the people, we should ask them what they want,” - the Mayor said.

During the inspection some other residents addressed I. Metshin. One elderly man requested to expand the lanes in the yard – two cars can barely pass each other. I. Metshin noted that it would be wrong to make the yards for cars only. “For the sake of cars driving comfortably we should’ve cut the playgrounds and green spaces or reduced the width of sidewalks, and we couldn’t do that,” - said the Mayor of Kazan. The resident agreed with these arguments and thanked I. Metshin for work.
