Azat Abzalov, the head of the Department of Culture, reported on what regional and city events are planned in the city on the eve of the holiday today on the Business Monday in the Executive Committee.

As the speaker noted, the city administration has been organizing extensive cultural programs since April, including solemn meetings and memory watches, yard festivities, folk festivities, meetings of heads with veterans.

The broadcast of the festive program of the radio “Kolokol Pobedy!” will be held from April 25 to May 10 in major shopping centers of the Aviastroitelny and Novo-Savinovsky districts.

Tournaments on billiards, complex competitions among veterans are planned in sports institutions of Vakhitovsky and Privolzhsky districts. Students and pupils of schools will perform concert programs on April 26 and May 4 at the Veterans' House on Dubravnaya Street.

The regional grand meeting “Glory and Honor to the Feat of Valor”, dedicated to the anniversary of the Victory with the participation of veterans and participants of the war, will be held on May 4 in the Kirovsky and Moskovsky districts. The capsule with a message to descendants, left by veterans in 1967 with a will to be opened in 100 years after the revolution, in 2017, will be opened at this event, which will be held at the Youth Center “Ak Bars”. Athletics race “1418 days of war” with the participation of schoolchildren and veterans of sports will be held on May 5 at the stadium “Tasma”.

The traditional festive concert for veterans “A brass band plays in the city garden” will be held on May 9 on the Sovetskaya Square.

Abzalov separately stopped on the program for May the 9th, which will begin with the events of memory. “The ceremonial laying of wreaths and flowers with the participation of veterans, the leadership of the RT and the city of Kazan will be held at 8:00 in the places of military graves in Arskoy and Arkhangelskoy cemeteries. The laying of a garland and flowers to the Eternal Fire and the monument to Mothers and Widows will be held at 9.00 in the Pobeda Park”, said the speaker.

The main area for the celebration will be the Millennium Square. At 9.45, the event will open here with a large theatrical prolog with the participation of two thousand artists. After that, the parade of troops of the Kazan garrison will take place, in which more than two thousand servicemen and pupils of the military school, cadet classes, and the military service will take part. The passage of the mechanized column of military equipment will take place at the end of the festive parade. The folk festivities in the Pobeda Park will begin from 10.00 and will last until 19.00. On this day, the festival “The Heirs of Victory” will be held there with the participation of 600 representatives of 32 Russian regions.

Azat Abzalov also said that the start of the action “Immortal Regiment” is scheduled for 15.00. The route of the regiment will pass along the central streets of the city: from the streets Karl Marx, Lobachevsky, on Kremlyovskaya Street. “The “Immortal Regiment” will complete its march on the Millennium Square. Here the grandiose interactive program of the many thousands choir “Singing Kazan” will be waiting for the participants of the action.
