(KZN.RU, August 9, by Renat Shirmanov) The Universiade in China, about to be launched this week, will be the last summer competition before the Student Games in Kazan. The representatives of the City Administration and of the 2013 Universiade organizing committee should closely monitor the "know-how" that will be showcased in Shenzhen. The capital of Tatarstan should pleasantly surprise its vistors in 2013, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin stated.
The 26th World Summer Universiade in Shenzhen will kick off Friday. The opening ceremony of the 2011Universiade will start August 12 at 8 p.m. The Games program includes 24 events. Thirty-eight Tatarstan athletes – members of Russia’s national team – will compete in 12 of them. Twenty-eight of the athletes will perform in Russia’s first team.
Representatives of the republican and city administration will work constantly at the China Games. In the end, they will present the results of their observations in a report, pointing out the innovations and their application possibilities in the organization of the 2013 Universiade.
The Mayor of Kazan as part of the delegation headed by President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and representatives of the Federal Government will also visit the capital of the 26th World Summer Student Games. Ilsur Metshin will attend the opening ceremony and participate in the FISU flag handover from China to Russia, which will be held August 23 during the closing ceremony of the Universiade.
