(KZN.RU,
February 9). Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, signed a letter in support of
the application of the French capital to host the Olympics in 2024. This was
reported on the website of the Paris City Hall, reports the TASS.
The heads
of 54 cities, including Copenhagen, Athens, Barcelona, Brussels, Sydney and
Kyoto, had announced support for the candidacy of Paris by the initiative of
Dani Kodera, the Mayor of Montreal.
The capital
of France has applied to host the Olympics-2024 on June 23, 2015. Also, Los
Angeles and Budapest pretend for the Games. All three cities approved by the
International Olympic Committee (IOC) to the final stage of selection. Rome
also claimed the right to host the Olympics in 2024, but the capital of Italy
withdrew the candidacy at the initiative of the new mayor.
The Special
Commission is to inspect Los Angeles from 23 to 25 April, Budapest - from 10 to
12 May, and Paris - from 14 to 16 May. The final report will be released in
July.
The
election of the host city of the Olympic Games will be held on September 13,
2017 at the IOC session in Lima.
Ilsur
Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, and Anne Hidalgo, the head of Paris, signed an
agreement in the field of tourism between the cities on December 13. The
document envisages capitals’ cooperation in the sphere of culture, tourism and
sports.
