Kazan celebrated the Sportsman’s Day with sports holiday

(KZN.RU 15 August, Alsu Safina). The capital of Tatarstan held a big series of mass sports activities dedicated to the All-Russian Sportsman’s Day on Saturday. Citizens and guests of Kazan enthusiastically took part in the football tournament, beach volleyball, and street basketball. Awarding of the winners of the Student Olympiad of educational institutions, in which 48 thousand people participated over 3 stages, was held in the framework of the holiday. Svetlana Vostrikova, the chairman of the Committee of Physical Culture and Sports of the Executive Committee, reported on the outcome of sporting event on the Business Monday in Kazan City Hall today.

Sports holiday covered all the largest sites in the city on the Sportsman's Day. The Final of Kazan Football Cup in six age categories was held at the stadium “Trudovye Reservy”. 240 people from 12 teams participated in the tournament. School of correct running “I love running” took place at the same time in the Uritskiy park - everyone ran 5, 10 and 21 km after lesson of proper warm-up. Runners received medals at the finish.

All-Russian competitions on street basketball “Orange Ball” held at the Center for beach sports at the Water Sports Palace. 100 teams - over 400 people - participated in the tournament, which was held in three age categories: under 13 years, 14-16 years, and 17 years and older.

Competitions in beach volleyball and beach football also were held. Lessons of correct tightening were organized for visitors. Sergey Cheban, the executive director of the Premier League, and Ilgiz Fakhriev, the general director of FC “Rubin”, awarded the winners of the tournament in beach football. They are presented the tickets for the match “Rubin” – “Spartak” to winners. The match ended with the score 1: 1.

Awarding of the winners of the Student Olympiad of educational institutions was held in the framework of the holiday. “Olympiad was held in 11 sports. More than 48 thousand students took part in it for 3 stages. The team of the Sovetskiy district won third place in the competition,and  2nd - Privolzhskiy district. The winner was the team of the Novo-Savinovskiy district”, said Svetlana Vostrikova.

Igor Levitin, the assistant of the Russian Presidential and the vice president of the Russian Olympic Committee, visited the open competitions on table tennis in the Center of boxing and table tennis.

“I am glad that Kazan citizens spent the weekend actively, participating in sporting events”, said Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan. “More and more city residents vote for a healthy lifestyle, exercise, and involving children in sports activities. Our task is to create conditions for sports in school and professional sections”.
