KZN.RU, June 17, Kseniya Shvetsova). In Kazan the I International forum of
graduates of the Faculty of Law of Kazan (Volga) Federal University opened. It
brought together high school graduates not only from different parts of Russia,
but also from abroad. In total, the forum is attended by about 500 people.
At the
opening ceremony, which was held by the Mayor of Kazan, Chairman of the Board
of Trustees of the Faculty of Law of KFU Ilsur Metshin, was attended by Prime
Minister Ildar Khalikov, Head of the Administration of the President of the
Republic of Tatarstan Asgat Safarov. The doctor of jurisprudence, the chairman
of the Duma Committee on Civil, Criminal, Arbitration and Procedural
Legislation Pavel Krasheninnikov was the guest of honor.
The first
forum, which brought together many prominent experts in the field of law is a
historic event not only for the Faculty of Law, but also for the university as
a whole, said I.Halikov, who once finished law school of KFU himself. "The
traditions that exist in such well-known law schools as Harvard, Oxford and a
number of other well-known universities of the world are now being implemented
here in the land of Kazan. The event gave us the opportunity not only to
collect and invite the most famous graduates of the law faculty, but also to give
them the opportunity to pass on their knowledge, their experience to today's
teachers and students. I am very pleased that all graduates, who have been
invited, came to Kazan from various regions of the country and even from abroad",
- RT Prime Minister said and conveyed congratulations from President of
Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov to the participants of the forum. He also added
that 12 graduates of faculty of law of KFU work in the Government of the
Republic, which indicates a high level of professional training at the faculty.
Recall, one
of the oldest universities in Russia, Kazan Federal University was established
in 1804, this date is also considered to be the date of birth of the Faculty of
Law, which became one of the first in the university.
"When
I was a student law school was called “faculty of sport with a legal bias,
which is taught in a foreign language" - another graduate of the Law
Faculty of KFU Asgat Safarov shared memories. – Athletes were more than a half of
the faculty. Plus we were very strongly forced to learn English". Head of
Office of the President also wished good luck to all participants of the forum
and expressed the hope that this is not the last meeting of graduates of the
Faculty in Kazan.
Professorof
KFU, Doctor of Law, Academician Boris Zheleznov opened the forum. He welcomed
all the participants and lawyers and expressed hope that the forum participants
will make a practical contribution to the discussion of urgent problems of
modern jurisprudence. "I see the faculty not only as an educational
institution, but rather as a factory of brilliant lawyers who every day contribute
development of our society and the state. Our forum will show once again that
the faculty is fueled by your experience, without your experience it would be
difficult to form a strategy and mechanism for training of socially adapted
lawyers"- B.Zheleznov said.
The guest
of honor, Chairman of the Duma Committee on Civil, Criminal, Arbitration and
Procedural Legislation Pavel Krasheninnikov greeted the high school graduates and
addressed the forum. He said that for the past several years he has been
researching the biography of one of the most outstanding graduates of the Law
Faculty of KFU - Gabriel Feliksovich Shershenevich. On behalf of the
Association of Russian Lawyers P.Krasheninnikov requested the leadership of the
University to establish a federal legal award named after Gabriel
Shershenevich. "Handing the award can take place, for example, at the
Congress of graduates", - P.Krasheninnikov said. Dean of the Faculty of
Law Lilia Bakulina endorsed the proposal and expressed the hope that this
initiative will be able to be realized soon.

reminded that since the restoration in 1952, the Faculty of Law has produced 12
thousand lawyers who have worked and are working now for the benefit of the
city, the republic and the country. "The Faculty of Law today is 124
full-time teachers, more than 2.5 thousand students, modern classrooms,
equipped with the latest IT-technologies, a serious scientific base, forensic
laboratories, the legal clinic. But most importantly – it is a team that solves
ambitious challenges of the leadership of the University", - the Mayor said.
The opening
ceremony was attended not only by graduates, but by today's students of the
university. So, the audience was greeted by the Chairman of Student Scientific
Society, student of the Faculty of Law Dinar Valeev. "Through learning in law
school I began to look at many things in life through the prism of law, to
perceive the world through the law, for which I am very grateful to our
teachers", - he said.
In turn,
chairman of the Association of Graduates of the Faculty of Law, a member of the
Board of Trustees Ildus Yanyshev noted that if the holding of the forum becomes a tradition, in the future it will bring even more participants and will
be held at an even higher organizational level. "We already have good
traditions at the faculty, for example, tomorrow we will hold an annual bike
ride for teachers and graduates of our faculty. The participants of the forum
will join", - I.Yanyshev told. The Mayor noted that to hold a forum every
year is a good initiative that the city will support gladly.
Former associate
professor of the Law Faculty of Kazan Federal University, a scientist, a
politician who stood at the origins of the Constitution of RT, a member of the
Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation Vasily Likhachev also
congratulated the participants of forum. He stressed that the experience of
Tatarstan in the field of law will always have the top marks.
Dean of the
Faculty Lilia Bakulina invited everyone to take an active part in the
discussion of important issues at the discussion stages. In total, the forum
hosts 3 sited, which are divided into eight discussion sessions. Participants
will have a tour of the museum of the university's history. And in the evening
at 17.00 summing up of discussion platforms will be held.
