Ilsur Metshin met with representatives of the delegation from Africa

(Kazan City KZN.RU, 26 May). Mayor of Kazan, President of the Eurasian department and co-president of UCLG Ilsur Metshin met with a delegation from Africa. The meeting was held within the framework of the meeting of the Executive Bureau of UCLG.

The workshop was attended by the Mayor of Johannesburg (South Africa) Park Tau, Mayor of the city of Durban (South Africa) James Nkumalo, president of the Association of Local Authorities of Botswana Mpho Moruakgomo, general secretary of the Association of Local Authorities of South Africa Holile George.

I. Metshin reminded the audience that the Executive Bureau is held in Russia for the first time. He also noted that Kazan is one of the founders and the main initiator of the creation of the Eurasian Regional Branch of the UCLG. The headquarters office is located in the capital of Tatarstan. "The Eurasian department includes 12 countries, 300 million population and 1/6 of the land. We are glad to see new faces in our organization. Welcome"- the Mayor of Kazan greeted the participants of the meeting.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Head of the municipal formation of Kazan Eugeniya Lodvigova, Deputy Head of the Executive Committee of the Tatarstan capital on economic development Ivan Kuznetsov and General Secretary of the Eurasian section of UCLG Rasih Sagitov.

Recall, meeting of the Executive Bureau of UCLG opened today in the Exhibition Centre "Kazan Fair". The opening was attended by President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, as well as heads of regional branches of the UCLG. The meeting was held in Kazan on the eve of the third World Summit of Local and Regional Authorities, which will be held in the capital of Colombia - Bogota in October 2016.
