Badminton Center opened in Kazan

(Kazan City KZN.RU, February 13). Badminton Center opened today in Kazan. The event was attended by President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, President of the World Badminton Federation Poul-Erik Heyer Larsen, president of the National Badminton Federation of Russia Sergey Shahray, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, Youth and Sports Affairs Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan Vladimir Leonov and others.

Construction of Badminton Center, located on the territory of the Kazan Tennis Academy, started in late September 2015. Total area of ​​the building is 3184.76 square meters. Gymnasium size 51,7 * 36 m and 12 m high, has 12 sites for badminton. The capacity of the sports hall is 96 people per shift. The stand for spectators with 300 seats is located in the gym.

Tatarstan President noted that this event is a landmark for the Republic of Tatarstan. According to Rustam Minnikhanov, it is the only facility dedicated to badminton in the country. For example, if five years ago only 124 athletes were fond of badminton in Tatarstan, now the number of practitioners in the sport has increased to almost 10 thousand men in the republic.

Today in 12 offices in badminton in youth children schools of Tatarstan more than 1,300 children and adolescents are engaged in sport, 49 coaches work with them. This year school is planned to open in this sport on the basis of Badminton Center.
