New ice palace "Golden Puck" opened in Kazan

(Kazan City KZN.RU, September 9). Today a new ice palace "Golden Puck" opened at the street Gavrilov in Kazan. The ceremony was attended by the Acting President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, Chief of Staff of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Asgat Safarov, Assistant to the President of RT Leila Fazleeva.

Laying of the capsule-puck at the construction site of the ice palace took place in August 2014. The new facility includes an ice hockey rink, gymnasium, aerobics room, various ancillary facilities (locker rooms for athletes, referees room, sauna, doctor's office). Total area is 5855 sq.m. Number of seats in the stands is 200.

The appearance of the ice palace has its prehistory. From 2 to 11 May 2013 in Sochi was II National Festival Hockey Amateur Championship, which was attended by 124 hockey teams from 56 regions of Russia, including 6 teams from Tatarstan. At the end of the tournament the winner of division "Champions League" was a hockey team "Kazan Dragons" from Kazan.

By the decision of Russian President Vladimir Putin 100 million rubles were provided for the construction of an ice palace in Kazan as a bonus for the region - winner of All-Russian Hockey Amateur Championship in 2013. Additional funds for the construction were allocated from the republican and municipal budgets.

Next to the "Golden Puck" urban schools №№113 and 146 are located.

Rustam Minnikhanov visited the premises of the new sports complex, in particular, a gym and a room for rhythmic gymnastics.

The main ceremony was held directly on the ice. Rustam Minnikhanov welcomed all the participants and noted that he is pride of the pace at which ice hockey is developing in Tatarstan. "Not only young athletes but also adults play in hockey. I believe that all conditions for this were created in republic. Today Tatarstan has 40 ice palaces. And we open another one today with you, "- said the Acting President of the Republic of Tatarstan.

He stressed that the construction of the "Golden Puck" was made possible by the success of the capital's sport team "Kazan dragons". Rustam Minnikhanov thanked the players and wished them new victories in the future.

Mayor Ilsur Metshin, in his turn, added that the sports complex is opened in one of the most densely populated areas of the city, which will contribute to promotion of hockey among youth.

Then Rustam Minnikhanov and Ilsur Metshin played a friendly match as a part of a team "Tatarstan" against the team of "Kazan dragons", the press service of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan says.
