(KZN.RU, February 15, Taisiya Basharkina). RT Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, Mayor of Kazan and heads of large, medium and small business discussed the appreciation of land charges and problems which businesspeople had faced. Tax increase caused resentment among Kazan businesspeople.
Today’s discussion with businesspeople has been held within the work of the Conciliation Commission created to deal with problems.
Recall that last time the city put up and reconsidered land tax in 2005. “We resigned an increase in 2008 during the midst of the financial crisis, and in 2009 it continued”, I. Metshin explained.
The Mayor recalled the land tax was one of the main sources of income for every city.
Rustam Nigmatullin, First Deputy Head of Economic, Transport, Land and Property Relations noted that permanent tax rates not only redounded upon the city budget negatively but led to inefficient use of land.
The discussion with the city authority gave an opportunity to large, medium and small business to remark on their problems and consequences of such a rise.
The Mayor approved the idea of Lyceums № 145 and №68 handover to municipal property, earlier belonged to an enterprise. He said that was a very widespread situation when an enterprise possessed land and the city didn’t know where to find a place for a kindergarten and school construction.
Rustam Nigmatullin noted the city authorities draw a conclusion from this situation. “We had to conduct explanatory work more effectively, to change over to new tax rates more smoothly”, he stressed.
Kazan authority meetings with representatives for small, medium, and large business continue. By the end of the week the Conciliation Commission will have to elaborate a problem solution and propose it for consideration to deputies of Kazan City Duma.
