150 thousand Kazan citizens will take part in the I City Olympics

 (KZN.RU, January 13, Renat Shirmanov). During the coming year mass sports competitions will be held among workers of the municipal service and citizens of the capital of Tatarstan. This has been announced today by Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan during a press conference dedicated to the I City Olympics. The event has been also attended by Rafis Burganov, the Minister of Youth, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Tatarstan and Ilgiz Fakhriev, the Chairman of the Physical Culture and Sports Committee.

During the Russia is Sports Power Nation, the all-Russian forum in Kazan, Dmitry Medvedev, the Russian President officially announced Kazan as the sports capital of the country. And since then the city ha matched the reputation successfully. As you know the big impulse for the sports infrastructure active development in the city was the victory of Kazan in hosting the Summer Universiade 2013. Since then there were 25 modern sports facilities in the city.

The leadership of the republic and the city make every effort to accelerate the "development" of sports facilities by the residents of Kazan. On behalf of Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of Tatarstan Kazan residents have the opportunity to visit for free sports facilities of the Universiade on weekends.

An inclusion to physical education and sports of greatest possible number of Kazan citizens is one of the main ways of the Five Years of Health program adopted by Kazan leadership.

"The main purpose of the program is to improve the health of our citizens. We do a lot in the health care sphere. But at the same time good health depends on many factors. One of the keys is a lifestyle. If thanks to the Universiade we have such a sports infrastructure we should use it", Ilsur Metshin noted.

The First City Olympics in six sports will start on January 22 and will be held during the current year. The opening ceremony will be held in the Ak Bars Arena.

The competitions will be held in several stages. On the main stage representatives for 10 sectors of the municipal service will identify the strongest between them. All of them will fight for the best team title in the final round of the Olympics. Champions will receive the Cup and reward.

"Besides teams distinguished in various categories will be rewarded. For example, companies which can attract a great number of participants. We have discussed this idea with all future members, and I believe that this project will be popular", Ilsur Metshin summed up.
