(Kazan, KZN.RU, February 16, by Albert Murtazin). The development project of Kazan's Admiralty Settlement received a special prize in the "Best Integrated Development Project" category at the first annual urban competition, held by the Russian Ministry of Housing Construction and Utilities, Damir Fattakhov, the head of administration of Kazan's Kirovsky and Moskovsky districts, said at today's Business Monday meeting.
D. Fattakhov recalled that urban planning competition was launched in December 2014. Its main goal is to identify the best practices in the field of urban planning and their implementation. The competition results were announced at the 4th Russian Investment and Construction Forum in Moscow.
The Admiralty suburb renovation project was presented to the forum attendees and to the chairman of the competition committee – Russian Minister of Construction and Housing, Mikhail Men. "All members of the committee, composed of eminent practitioners in the construction industry, praised the renovation project of Kazan's "gem" and took a unanimous decision to award the project a special prize in the 'Best Integrated Development Project' category," said Damir Fattakhov.
"Needless to say, private investment and construction companies became interested in the large-scale plans of the area recreation. During a crisis, major players consider investment cautiously. At the forum, addressing a unique audience of investors and developers, we tried to reiterate through the prism of Admiralty reconstruction that Kazan is one of the most economically stable regions of our country with a great potential for investment," said D. Fattakhov.
As Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin pointed out, receiving the award is the first step in implementing the project. "The 300th anniversary of the of the Admiralty Settlement lies ahead. Although this is not the best time to implement large-scale plans, Kazan's millennium wasn't marked in the easiest times either. It is important to set a goal and keep working hard to achieve it. The high evaluation of the Admiralty renovation project by the Government of the Russian Federation is very important to us," said the mayor and wished much success to the ambitious project.
