(KZN.RU, June 1, by Ekaterina Andreyeva) The renovated canal Bulak appeared today in all its glory to the residents and guests of Kazan. The final touch in the renovation work was the launch of 22 new fountains equipped with night lighting. Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin visited the rejuvenated canal in the morning.
The head of the city said that a huge amount of work had been accompished: the bridges had been repaired, cable networks relaid, new roadbed laid, fencing updated. Three hundred twenty-five poplars have been planted along the Bulak, and the lighting poles have been decorated with flower pots.
"I am pleased that the Bulak looks younger,” said I. Metshin. “In the opinion of Kazan residents and visitors, the Bulak, as well as the Kremlin, The Kazan hotel, Teatral'naya (now Svobody) square, the railway station building are inextricably linked with Kazan." The Bulak is featured in all historic photos, added the mayor.
