The street infrastructure is being optimized in Kazan in order to improve the quality of snow removal. By the efforts of the Land Improvement Committee and the Automated Traffic Management System, 142 road signs and 78 street urns have already been relocated. Albert Shainurov, Chairman of the Land Improvement Committee of the Executive Committee of Kazan, announced this at a staff meeting.
The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin emphasized that the chaotic layout of the signs creates problems not only in winter, but also all year round.
«Any road intersection is like a garden of signs. No one disputes their importance, but they need to be arranged in a more orderly way. For example, we are currently discussing the issue of snow removal, where road signs interferes with the movement of cleaning vehicles on the sidewalk. However, these signs also cause inconvenience throughout the year, for example, to moms with strollers or children» –- the Mayor said.
Citizens are asked to report any areas where the road infrastructure hinders the operation of snow removal vehicles via the My Kazan chatbot or the Telegram channel of the Land Improvement Committee.
